NCGA Growers, Leaders Visit D.C. to Show Support for the RFS (6-26-08)

Growers and leaders from Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Texas traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to show their support for the 2007 Energy Independence and Security Act and the renewable fuels standard (RFS).  The group also took the opportunity to visit their congressional delegations and thank the senators and representatives who believe in the benefits of corn ethanol and decreasing our country’s dependence on foreign oil.

“The National Corn Growers Association is committed to the RFS,” said NCGA First Vice President Bob Dickey. “It is vitally important that we reinforce our position on the legislation.  Visiting the congressional offices was a great demonstration of our appreciation for the many staff and members of Congress who helped make the bill possible.”

NCGA is committed to its policy supporting the energy bill, especially the provisions dealing with ethanol and other biofuels. NCGA opposes current requests for an RFS waiver.

Growers and state leaders also took the opportunity to provide data and handouts to bolster NCGA’s support of the RFS. Also among those present was Corn Board member Darrin Ihnen, who becomes first vice president in October.
